After a lot of meeting up for pizza and holiday planning with my friends we finally came to a decision. We chose to stay at Hotel Cap 3000 Aeroport Novotel hotel in Nice and we were so glad we did. It had a pool which was never too crowded, the rooms were clean and spacious and the location was perfect.
Occasionally we got the bus to Nice, the bus stop was only round the corner and it only cost €1.50 each way to get off at any stop along Nice promenade. Plus they came every 15 minutes which was so handy.
In terms of things to do in Nice we did a Segway tour for an hour which we had prebooked in England and only cost us £26. It was a fun way to explore the town whilst also learning a bit of history. Another day we also got on a train which took us round more of Nice, including stopping off at a castle and overlooking an amazing view, this only cost us €10.
Just a 5 minute walk away from the hotel is the beach which has a variety of restaurants. Our personal favourite was "Casa Luna". On a few occasions we walked down to the beach and had sugar and lemon crepes for €3.80. We also ate out at that restaurant in the evening a couple of times, the Margarita being a reasonable €10 and cocktails during happy hour all €8. Pina coladas all round!
Another great cheap day out is to catch the bus to Nice but instead of getting of at the promenade get off near the airport instead. Opposite is a zoo called "Phoenix park",. On the plus side it also cost only €5- bargain!
In terms of food and water we regularly took a visit to the Cap 3000 shopping mall which was only round the corner. There they had a large food shop called Brioche Doree which seems the French equivalent to Waitrose but they actually offer some inexpensive options.
